Ghatshila News Preparations for the by-election in Jharkhand’s Ghatshila Assembly constituency have reached their final stage, as the updated voter list will be published today.
The 45-Ghatshila (ST) seat fell vacant after the passing of former Education Minister and senior JMM leader Ramdas Soren in August. As per constitutional provisions, a by-election must be conducted within six months of a seat becoming vacant, prompting the Election Commission and district administration to gear up for the poll.
Voter List Revision Completed
The most significant step in the preparation process—revision of the voter list—has already been finalized. A special summary revision was undertaken under the Election Commission of India’s directions. The draft list was issued on September 2, following which claims and objections were accepted until September 17. All submissions were reviewed and resolved by September 25. The finalized list is now ready and will form the basis for the upcoming election.
District Administration Prepared
Officials in East Singhbhum district have been working on the by-election arrangements for several weeks. With the voter list complete, the formal announcement of election dates is expected soon.
The by-election is being closely watched as the Ghatshila seat has political significance, and parties are preparing to contest vigorously to secure this tribal-reserved constituency.
